Secondary Principal

Dear Visitor,

Robert Champion
Secondary Principal

It is a great pleasure and privilege to welcome you to our Trio World Academy (TWA) community; I like to welcome all our new families to TWA. One of the great aspects of Trio is that we are truly a international school with students and teachers from around the world. Being an international school that follows the very best international curriculums in the IGCSE and IB. This means that as well as providing the best academics for our students we also prepare them as citizens of the world prepared for all the 21st century has to offer. This is enshrined in our core values of (LEADS) Leadership, Excellent Academics, Discipline, and Service. At Trio World Academy everything we do LEADS to the success of our students.

I have been fortunate to experience many schools in my career as a educator. I have been a school leader and teacher for over twenty years in the UK, Peru, Czechia, Jordan, Sri Lanka, and Malaysia; in that time I have found that the bedrock of a great school is the positive relationships between teachers, students, and their families. From my first day with Trio, I have been impressed by the warmth and friendliness of the school. I have experienced a unique atmosphere of care and dedication towards our students, combined with an academic professionalism amongst the staff, which makes me realise just what a true family we have in our Trio community. This feeling of a family working together, is one of the hallmarks of a great school providing a sense of belonging as we all work towards a common goal, our student’s success.

At Trio we don’t just concentrate on excellent academics, we believe in nurturing the whole person by providing access to a variety of extra-curricular activities for both day and boarding students. This is something which is very close to my heart. As a published writer, both academically (presenting papers at The Great Writing International Creative Writing Conference, Imperial College London, and at Modernity & the European Mind: Writing the Past, Creating Identity Conference, and University of Portsmouth. I am also a writer of poetry and short stories (my short story Shining Paths was long listed for the OWT 2016 Prize). I love sport, especially cricket, having played for, and managed, the Peruvian National Cricket Team in ICC competition, I understand the value in promoting and developing extra-curricula interests of our students.

My philosophy of education has been influenced byProfessor Michael Fullan. Using empirical research as a cornerstone I believe in the philosophy of the educational leader as ‘lead learner’ seeking to establish a collaborative culture amongst colleagues, creating an environment which values learning at all levels within a school, encompassing all staff and students. Everything we do at Trio World Academy is designed to support and encourage our students to learn to successfully achieve their goals within a supportive environment by allowing all to develop and fulfill their potential throughout their Trio journey. It is a journey that we look forward to you joining us on.
