TRIO World Academy (TWA) students first from Bengaluru to undertake volunteer work at refugee camp in France

The students were at Calais, France for a two-week educational trip

April 12, 2019, Bengaluru:
TRIO World Academy students were at the Auberge des migrants at Calais, France during their two-week educational and experiential visit to France. Ms. Chandniee, Head of TRIO’s French Department, said that TRIO, an authorised IB World School, has Creativity, Activity, Service or CAS as part of its International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP).

The students worked with Utopia56, a French NGO to sort clothes that had been donated to the refugees. They also underwent a field training course that taught them about the NGO’s activities and how to be sensitive to the experiences of the refuges while interacting with them.

Tushara, a student of Grade 11 at TRIO, said that it felt great helping the refugees to keep warm with the help of the clothes that they were sorting.

Mr. Naveen KM, Managing Director, TRIO World Academy commended the initiative, and said “We are proud of our students for putting their educational trip to effective use and taking it as an opportunity to be of service. At TRIO, we encourage our students to seek out causes that are meaningful to them. We give them support and guidance as they achieve their CAS objectives.”
