The Heart of the Diploma Programme

The DP Core

Theory of Knowledge (TOK)

Assesses student’s reflection and interpretation of the nature of knowledge. Assessed through a collaborative oral presentation and an essay.

Extended Essay (EE)

A mandatory core component: a 4000-word independent and self-directed research paper submitted at the culmination of the process.

CAS

Creativity, Activity, Service. Practical and purposeful projects undertaken to create impactful outcomes, encouraging personal challenge.

Curriculum Structure

IB Diploma Subject Requirements

Selection Rules

  • Students must take exactly 3 subjects at Higher Level (HL) and 3 subjects at Standard Level (SL).
  • Groups 1, 2 and 5 are compulsory. Students must select at least one subject from Group 3 and one from Group 4.
  • Group 6 may be replaced by choosing one additional subject from any of the other groups.
  • English B is only available for students taking ESL or who haven't completed English Literature in Grade 10.
