Academics and Curriculum

TRIO World Academy is an authorised IB World School affiliated with CAIE (Cambridge Assessment International Education). We follow IB PYP (Nursery – Grade 5), Cambridge Secondary, IGCSE (Grade 6 – 10) and IB Diploma (Grade 11, 12).

The International Baccalaureate (IB) Syllabus consists of four main education programs that develop students' academic, personal, and emotional skills. Students will also gain a deeper understanding of various subjects and topics by taking international baccalaureate courses.

Over the course of the two-year IB Diploma Programme, students study six subjects chosen from the six subject groups, complete an extended essay, follow a theory of knowledge (TOK) course, and participate in creativity, activity, service (CAS).

TRIO World Academy’s IB DP grade point has been consistently greater than the world average, year after year. Although, we strongly believe that a child’s worth and ability to succeed in their future does not depend on their current academic successes. A score in the 40s will make you a more competitive candidate academically (note: a lot of non-academic factors are at play), but a 38+ is considered a good IB score.

At TRIO World Academy, we prepare students from an early age to help them feel safe and supported in their learning environment.

The IB Learner Profile helps students manage academic stress by fostering a holistic approach to learning. Students are encouraged to be inquirers, cultivating curiosity and self-directed learning to build confidence in tackling challenges. As thinkers, they develop critical and analytical skills, enabling them to approach tasks efficiently and effectively. They communicate their concerns and collaborate with peers and teachers for support, ensuring a strong network of assistance. By being principled, students learn to prioritize integrity and honesty over perfectionism, embracing the learning process.

The school promotes open-mindedness, encouraging students to explore diverse perspectives and solutions, which reduces pressure to conform to rigid standards. Through arts, sports, and reflective exercises, students become balanced, understanding the importance of downtime for overall well-being. Service projects nurture caring individuals, helping them shift focus from self-imposed academic pressures to community engagement.

PYP assessments are formative in nature. Assessment in the PYP is divided into four dimensions: monitoring, documenting, measuring, and reporting. Preparing your child for the IB Diploma Programme involves nurturing both academic readiness and the IB learner profile attributes. Encourage curiosity, independent thinking, and a love for inquiry by allowing your child to explore topics beyond textbooks. Strong reading, writing, and research skills are essential, as the IB places emphasis on critical analysis, reflection, and effective communication. Help your child develop time management, organisation, and self-discipline, as the programme requires balancing multiple subjects, internal assessments, and long-term projects.
