Trio World Academy is an authorised IB World School, offering the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB DP). The ethos of Trio is in alignment with the philosophy, mission, and values of the IB. The International Baccalaureate (IB) programme balances academic advancement with complete development of a student’s personality. It promotes the physical, intellectual, emotional and ethical development of each student. It is independent of governments and national systems and therefore incorporates best practices from a range of international frameworks and curricula. It is a rigorous programme designed to enhance a student’s mastery of traditional subjects, including languages. Students who enroll for the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme will:

IB Diploma Subject Requirements

The curriculum is divided into DP core and six subject groups. The core parts are Theory of Knowledge, Extended Essay, and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS). Student must take 3 subjects at Higher Level (HL) and 3 subjects at Standard Level (SL) + Theory of Knowledge +EE+ CAS

The Theory of Knowledge (TOK) is a format of assessing student’s reflection and interpretation of the nature of knowledge. It is assessed through an oral presentation and essay.

The Extended Essay is a mandatory core component, that should be 4000 words long, submitted at the end of an independent and self-directed research process.

Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) are practical and purposeful projects undertaken to create impactful outcomes. It encourages personal challenge, initiative, teamwork, planning, reviewing, reporting, reflection and so on.

Student need to choose one subject from each block.

Students must choose from various groups. Groups 1, 2 and 5 are compulsory for full IB DP students, in addition, at least one subject from Group 3 and one from Group 4. Group 6 maybe replaced by one of the other groups.
Students need to choose one from each block, depending on the groups. English B is only for those students that are taking ESL at the moment or haven’t done any English Literature in Grade 10. However, this means they can’t take the full IB DP unless they take a self-study Language A course, which needs to be discussed with them as the school would need an external guide to help the student achieve the assessment objectives.
