Child Safety
Creating a safe and happy school
At TRIO, we believe that it is a privilege to care for your children and we always take this shared responsibility seriously. A safe and happy school environment promotes healthy emotional growth, development, learning and exploration. It is one of the most important precursors to a child’s academic success. Cultivating a healthy teacher-student bond is at the core of building child safety into our school’s ecosystem. We are aware of the risks that children face under unsafe environments and how detrimental unsafe spaces could be to their physical, and mental health and are taking every step to mitigate those risks.
Background checks
TRIO ensures that all staff and volunteers are subject to extensive reference checks before they are appointed. The presentation of a recent Police Background Verification Check is mandatory. We also ask staff to be vigilant with any adult who is on campus and have a stringent entry protocol for visitors.
Child Safety Policy
At TRIO, we have robust policy and processes in place for ensuring child safety. Our staff are trained to follow child safe behaviours and practices. They are also trained to look for any signs or symptoms that a child may be subject to abuse/neglect of any kind and alert the school management. This includes sexual, physical, or emotional abuse and neglect. We have clear procedures for the reporting of such issues to the appropriate authorities and agencies where required, for investigation and resolution of these issues. These processes involve trained professional staff who will confidentially carry out an inquiry and then if required escalate their report to external agencies.
Our policy and procedures are reviewed annually by our Safeguarding Committee which is made up of the appropriate school staff and a parent representative. If you want to check our Child Safety policy, please check with Head of School.
